Profile
I am an Integrative Psychotherapist (UKCP reg.), Psychodynamic Counsellor (MBACP, MBPsS) and Doctor of Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy (DCPsych). I have worked in a variety of settings (adult counselling services, NHS, the Higher Education Sectors), providing individual counselling and psychotherapy to clients from all walks of life (students, young adults, older clients). Counselling or psychotherapy can be a big journey to consider embarking on. It is important that you are able to make an informed decision, choosing a therapist who would be the ‘right’ fit for you. I offer flexible hours and provide medium, long and short-term counselling and psychotherapy. I aim to offer you a safe and confidential space to explore your thoughts and feelings. Working as an integrative psychotherapist means that my practice is informed by various psychological theories and techniques as well as by the individual client’s specific needs and aspirations. My theoretical integrative framework is primarily based on the developmental, psychodynamic and humanistic approaches. In my conceptual synthesis, I draw from Attachment theory and Interpersonal Neurobiology, exploring the developmental journey from dependence through to autonomy, separation and independence, incorporating Object relations, Intersubjectivity theories and Self psychology concepts, highlighting the importance of early experience in the formation of our internal world. Reflecting on the issues and difficulties you might have encountered recently or at different stages in your life may give you time to think about and decide what it is you need to do, as well as enable you to see a different perspective and subsequently make changes in your life and in your relationships with Self and others. Some of the issues that I work with include abuse, addictions, health anxiety, performance and social anxiety, bereavement and loss, body image concerns, bullying, cultural awareness and/or alienation, depression, discrimination, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties and interpersonal issues, Self and identity, sexuality, trauma, work-related stress and more. I understand that choosing a psychotherapist can be a daunting task, both on a personal level as well as in terms of the issue(s) you may be bringing. It is for this reason that I offer all prospective clients an initial consultation (50 minutes) at a reduced price (£30) without commitment at this stage. This will give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have, related to my practice, therapeutic stance and theoretical integrative model, training and/or experience, as well as to discuss professional practice issues, such as confidentiality, fees and cancellation policy. We can also talk about the issue(s) affecting you, and your expectations of therapy. If we decide to work together, we can contract for a number of subsequent individual once or twice-weekly sessions (50 minutes) with the option to continue open-endedly. Prices vary depending on your financial circumstances. Feel free to contact me to discuss this in more detail.
